The Rear Cave Cliff Carvings are located in Moni Town and date back to the Qing Dynasty. They fall under the category of cave temples and stone carvings.

On December 18, 2019, the Xuyong County People's Government designated the Rear Cave Cliff Carvings as part of the fourth batch of county-level cultural heritage protection units.

Moni Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Xuyong County. It was established as Jinni Township in 1948, reorganized as a commune in 1958, and came under the administration of Gulin County. In 1983, it was transferred to Xuyong County. It reverted to township status in 1984 and was upgraded to a town in 1992. Located in the southeastern part of the county, it is 61 kilometers from the county seat. The town covers an area of 135.9 square kilometers and has a population of 30,000. National Highway 321 and the eastern section of the Chuan-Yun Road pass through the area.
