The Cliffside Statues at Tian Dong Temple are located in Maling Town, Xuyong County, and are designated as a municipal-level cultural relic protection unit.

Protected area: extending 60 meters eastward, 50 meters southward, 50 meters westward, and 50 meters northward from the centerline of the base of the stone cliff.

Construction control zone: an area 100 meters beyond the protected boundary.

Maling Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Xuyong County. Established as Maling Town in 1933, in 1958 it was reorganized into two communes—Maling and Xinhua. In 1984, it was divided into Maling and Maidi townships, and in 1992 these were merged to form Maling Town. It is located in the northwest of the county, 28 kilometers from the county seat. Covering an area of 108.4 square kilometers with a population of 32,000, it lies along National Highway 321 and the eastern section of Sichuan-Yunnan Road.
