Longfengshan Park in Zigong is a forested park characterized by its natural scenery. It is named after the mountain. Originally called Longfengshan (Dragon Peak Mountain), it was renamed Longfengshan (Dragon and Phoenix Mountain) during a place name survey in the early 1980s. Located on the north side of Jiaotong Road in the city center, it borders the Fuxi River to the south and faces Jiefang Road to the north. The park covers an area of 120 mu. In 1930, the Zigong Municipal Public Office selected Longfengshan, a mountain with towering heights, unique rocks, and lush vegetation located at a key urban gateway, as a park site. From 1944—Vice Chairman Feng Yuxiang visited and advocated for the Patriotic Gold Donation Movement, and his inscription “Return My Rivers and Mountains” was engraved on the stone cliff at the southern foot of this mountain. In July 1959, the Zigong Municipal People's Committee decided to develop Longfengshan Park, organizing citizens to plant trees on the mountain for many consecutive years to green the entire area. After 1984, park construction accelerated. From vantage points, visitors can look south to see the riverside greenbelt with its dense woods and lush bamboo, and gaze north over the city’s buildings, which rise and fall in an orderly, densely packed arrangement. Within the woods, garden sculptures such as “Group of Deer” and “Dragon and Phoenix” exude rustic charm. The eastern part of the park has gently sloping terrain with thickets of tall trees, offering a quiet and serene atmosphere. The central area features adjacent open-air teahouses and amusement facilities, with expanses of crape myrtle and cherry blossoms further enhancing the park’s scenery. The western section has steep peaks, rugged rocks, and ancient, vigorous trees. Longfengshan Park is a green jewel in the heart of the city, with a rugged, natural style that attracts a continuous stream of visitors.
