Han Yuan is located in Dongxing Temple Community, Dongjie, Ziliujing District, Zigong City. The mansion was built in 1946 by Hou Ceming, one of the Four Great Salt Merchants of Zigong, and is situated within the Jiuda Salt Industry Group complex, facing southeast from the northwest. Also known as the Mansion of Hou, Han Yuan covers a construction area of over 1,400 square meters, with the main building spanning about 200 square meters. The entire structure is a two-story Western-style brick-and-wood mansion surrounded by gables. Han Yuan features exquisite architecture and meticulous design, and is one of the few surviving salt merchant mansions in Zigong, holding scientific and artistic value for the study of Zigong's salt industry history and culture.

In 2019, Han Yuan was designated as part of the Ninth Batch of Provincial-Level Cultural Relics Protection Units by the People’s Government of Sichuan Province.
