The Dechang Bell and Drum Tower is a cultural relic protection unit of Sichuan Province.

The Dechang Bell and Drum Tower stands at the southern end of Shangxiangdai and is the only well-preserved ancient building in Dechang today. The tower features exquisite craftsmanship, solid construction, and a majestic appearance.

The Bell and Drum Tower was first built in the 18th year of the Daoguang reign during the Qing Dynasty (1838 AD). As there were originally Kui Pavilions located at the northern, southern, and central sections of the main street, this one in the center was commonly referred to as the Central Kui Pavilion, and people usually called it the Bell and Drum Tower or Central Drum Tower. It was destroyed by fire in the 2nd year of the Tongzhi reign (1863 AD), and again in the 13th year of the Guangxu reign (1887 AD). The current structure was rebuilt between the 2nd year of the Xuantong reign and the 1st year of the Republic of China (1910–1912), which corresponds to the 31st year after its last destruction.

From here, visitors can climb up the wooden stairs and gaze out to take in the full view of the suburban scenery of Dechang.
