Lisu Water Village Scenic Area

Lisu Water Village Scenic Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Lisu Water Village is situated in Shaba, Dechang County, Sichuan Province. Established in December 2008, it is located in Shaba Village, Leyue Town, Dechang County, Sichuan Province, right next to National Highway 108. It is about 70 kilometers (approximately 50 kilometers by expressway) north of Xichang, 109 kilometers (entirely on highways) south of Panzhihua City, and 17 kilometers (on a secondary road) from Dechang County town. The signature tourism project "Lisu Water Village Mountain Spring Surfing" has provided jobs for over 100 local members, effectively boosting the local economy and increasing individual incomes. Emphasizing the development of ethnic-characteristic eco-tourism and taking comprehensive agricultural industrialization development as a highlight, it helps increase farmers’ income. In 2016, Lisu Water Village officially achieved AAA-level scenic area status, becoming the only 3A-level attraction in Dechang County.

Dechang Lisu Water Village is one of the distinctive tourism projects developed by the Shaba Lisu Ethnic Culture Tourism Development Professional Cooperative in Shaba, Dechang County, Sichuan Province. It is located in Shaba Village, Leyue Town, Dechang County, Sichuan Province, adjacent to National Highway 108, about 60 kilometers north of Xichang (around 50 kilometers via highway) and 129 kilometers south of Panzhihua City (entirely via highway), 17 kilometers from Dechang County town (on a secondary road), offering very convenient transportation. There are two exits on the Xichang–Panzhihua Expressway leading to Lisu Water Village: 17 kilometers from the Dechang exit and 13 kilometers from the Puba exit.

The Shaba Village where Dechang Lisu Water Village is located is home to an ancient ethnic group—the Lisu people (traditionally hunters). They are hardworking and brave, worship nature, and believe in animism; among them are remarkable individuals who can walk on knife ladders and dive into fire pits. The Lisu people love singing and dancing, with a saying: "Salt is essential, and so is song." Their folk songs are simple and moving, their melodies melodious, and their dance steps lively. Traditional dances are mostly group performances, some imitating animals and others reflecting production and daily life.
