Legend has it that when the Jade Emperor and his entourage passed through the South Heaven Gate, their imperial sedan made a stop here (hence it is also called Mount Luanjia), and to please the Jade Emperor, the Queen Mother of Heaven pointed her finger at the land and turned it into a lake—thus giving the name Nan Tian Lake (South Heaven Lake).
