Shengshan Botanical Garden in Kaizhou is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Shengshan Botanical Garden in Kaizhou (formerly Guosen Mountain Villa), a national AAA-level tourist attraction, is located in Yonggong Village, Zhen’an Town, Kaizhou District. It was invested and built by Kaizhou Guosen Industry, with construction starting in 2008 and operations commencing in 2011. The botanical garden has received an investment of 53 million yuan, with a declared area of 2,500 mu (600 mu developed, 1,900 mu as scenic forest land). Shengshan Botanical Garden in Kaizhou integrates leisure and entertainment, tourism and vacation, health and sightseeing, business conferences, and green dining. The garden boasts a beautiful environment with fragrant flowers throughout the seasons, lush greenery, abundant water features and vegetation, as well as rare plants, domestic poultry, wild birds, and cultural landscapes. It is a high-oxygen natural oxygen bar.

The botanical garden has planned and set up 15 specialized gardens, including the Osmanthus Garden, Crape Myrtle Garden, Rose Garden, Peony Garden, Wintersweet Garden, Red Maple Garden, Azalea Garden, Camellia Garden, Tangerine Fragrance Garden, Crabapple Garden, Plum Blossom Garden, Bougainvillea Garden, Bonsai Garden, Orchid Garden, and Cherry Blossom Path. Nearly 10,000 species of flowers and seedlings have been introduced and cultivated, including over 20 varieties of azaleas, over 30 varieties of peonies, over 30 varieties of camellias, and nearly 150 rare varieties of roses and roses from around the world. The newly built Bird Garden houses various species such as peacocks, golden pheasants, gamecocks, junglefowl, yuanbao chickens, queen chickens, pheasants, and pearl chickens. Other attractions include Moon Lake, Sun Lake, Jiulong Lake, Eight Immortals Pool, Jiulong Pool, and Long’en Pool, along with efforts to restore cultural landmarks such as Old Guan Temple, Lovers’ Waterfall, Jiulong Waterfall, Siyuan Well, Motivation Rock, Water Curtain Cave, and Gratitude Cliff. The entire botanical garden is designed primarily in the style of classical Chinese gardens, integrating traditional Chinese architectural elements such as pavilions, painted beams, and carved rafters with lakes, vegetation, flowing water, and rock cliffs. The landscape is thoughtfully arranged with terraced structures and serene winding paths.

The botanical garden also includes the “Guosen Mountain Villa,” built to the standards of a four-star resort. It features complete and elegant facilities, with various guest rooms, conference rooms, and leisure halls, capable of accommodating 500–1,000 guests at the same time. The garden has already launched distinctive facilities such as a barbecue street, ecological fish ponds, Seven Sages Roast Lamb, outdoor activity and team-building training bases, real-life CS arenas, outdoor wedding lawn bases, and outdoor camping bases. Planned projects include a drive-in movie base, motorhome hotel, tea bar, Chinese Culture Academy (activity center for various associations), Osmanthus Wine Culture Center, ecological hotpot restaurant, three-star business hotel, five-star garden holiday hotel, and retirement villas. Additionally, more than 10 distinctive local farmhouses near the botanical garden have taken initial shape, offering a variety of rural cuisines, clean and tidy accommodations, allowing visitors to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy the simple charm of rural life, relax the body and mind, and uplift the spirit.

In recent years, the botanical garden has placed great emphasis on the development of corporate culture. While completing its own construction, it has continuously explored and excavated the historical and cultural heritage of Kaizhou, steadily enhancing its soft power. Upholding the essence of China’s 5,000-year-old wine culture, the garden uses naturally produced osmanthus from the botanical garden to brew osmanthus wine through traditional methods, known for its enticing aroma even before the drink is seen. With the “Osmanthus Wine Culture Center,” “Chinese Culture Academy,” and “Red Culture” at its core, the garden is building a cultural sanctuary that connects with history, integrates with culture, merges with nature, and resonates with heritage, all based on existing attractions, linked by the Jiulong Mountain range, and focused on historical figures. The Chongqing Municipal Party Committee Propaganda Department has established a cultural exchange activity base here, the Chongqing TV program “Wudu Night Talk” has set up a filming base in the garden, and collaborations with various cultural groups inside and outside Kaizhou District have created cultural activity bases. These provide excellent conditions for artists from within and outside the district to create and sketch in Kaizhou, enrich the cultural content of the botanical garden, and offer a great platform for artist exchanges and the promotion of Kaizhou culture. Currently, the botanical garden is discussing with relevant management departments the cooperative establishment of the first “Rare Plant Science Education and Experience Base for Primary and Secondary School Students in Northeastern Chongqing,” providing students with an extracurricular platform to learn about plant characteristics, growth habits, and seedling cultivation through exchanges and practical activities.

Shengshan Botanical Garden in Kaizhou is situated next to the Nanhe River in Zhen’an Town, upstream of Hanfeng Lake. It enjoys convenient transportation, being adjacent to Kaizhou urban area, just 9.6 kilometers from the Wanzhou–Kaizhou Expressway exit, approximately 3,000 meters from the Wanzhou–Dazhou–Kaizhou Expressway (from Hubei to Xi’an) exit and the future Dazhou–Kaizhou–Wanzhou High-Speed Railway station, and only 1,000 meters from Kaizhou New City. Here, you will find the scenery refreshing and captivating, making it hard to leave. It serves as the backyard garden and vacation paradise of lakeside Kaizhou; a practical experience base for young people to observe plants and connect with nature; an activity camp for young friends to exchange photography and calligraphy art; a pure natural oxygen bar for middle-aged and elderly friends to relax and enjoy life; and an elegant venue for friends’ gatherings, business discussions, and conference training.
