Fuling Wuling Mountain National Forest Park is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction, a cultural tourism site, and a national forest park.

I. Introduction

Wuling Mountain National Forest Park is located in Damu Township, Fuling District, 60 kilometers from Fuling and 130 kilometers from Chongqing. It lies in the northern section of the Wuling Mountain Range, 20 kilometers from Wulong Fairy Mountain, about a half-hour drive away. The park’s main scenic area spans 25,000 mu, with the highest elevation reaching 2,000 meters. The park features dense forests, undulating peaks, and presents a vast, serene, mysterious, and rugged natural landscape. The average temperature in the hottest month (August) is only 19.7°C, making it highly suitable for summer retreats. In winter, there is a 40-day snow cover period, ideal for snow viewing, snow play, and skiing. Due to the karst landforms within the park, there are numerous caves, including the Pan Si Cave on West Mountain, which remains unexplored to this day and houses various uniquely shaped stalactites.

Originally part of the Damu Forest Farm under Fuling District, Wuling Mountain National Forest Park was taken over by Taiji Group in November 2003. It has since been managed and operated by Chongqing Yunding Summer Resort Co., Ltd. During peak seasons, the park employs over 300 staff, and about 80 during off-peak times. In November 2008, it was rated as Fuling’s first “National AAA-level Tourist Attraction.”

After Taiji Group took over Wuling Mountain National Forest Park, it invested hundreds of millions of yuan, mainly for relocating local farmers and developing resort hotels and infrastructure within the park. Over ten years of development, the daily reception capacity increased from fewer than 100 people to 5,000, and annual visitor numbers rose from less than 10,000 to nearly 500,000. In 2014, the park generated approximately 17 million yuan in revenue and paid around 1 million yuan in taxes for the year.

The park features well-decorated hotels such as the Lilac Building and Ginkgo Building, both built to five-star standards, and the Yunding Mountain Villa, Tianyu Hotel, and Phoenix Hotel, all built to four-star and three-star standards respectively. In July, the park’s hotels can accommodate up to 1,000 guests simultaneously. Additionally, the park’s nest-like accommodations built within the forest can host 2,000 guests, addressing the issue of accommodation shortages during peak seasons. The park also includes a dining center, Mongolian yurt-style restaurants (offering Chinese cuisine, hot pot, and barbecue), Yunhu Fish Village, and forest mushroom soup. There are eight meeting rooms of varying sizes (capable of accommodating 800 people simultaneously), chess and card rooms, and a performance hall that can host bonfire parties for up to 350 people.

Current recreational activities in the park include horseback riding, camel riding, fishing at Yunhu Lake, sightseeing vehicles, horse-drawn carriages, robots, go-karts, bumper boats, and various other outdoor sports.

Discount Policy: Free admission from Monday to Thursday during July to September 2015 (tickets required Friday to Sunday); free admission from after National Day until June of the following year.

1. Visitors between 1.2m and 1.4m in height (inclusive), primary, middle, and high school students, social groups, and tour groups of 10 or more people enjoy a 20% discount on tickets.

2. Seniors aged 60 and above with a Senior Citizen Preferential Certificate receive a 50% discount on tickets.

3. Active-duty military personnel, martyrs’ families, disabled revolutionary soldiers, retired military cadres, and disabled individuals with valid credentials enjoy free admission.

III. Park Highlights

Annual events include the “Million People’s Bamboo Shoot Festival” (April–May), “Summer Retreat Festival” (July–August), “Wild Kiwi Festival” (September–October), and “Snow and Ice Festival” (November–February).

In May 2006, Yunding Summer Resort was rated as a "Two-Star Hotel" by the National Tourism Star-Rated Hotel Evaluation Committee.

In June 2006, it was recognized as a "Chongqing Forestry Leading Enterprise for 2005–2007" by the Chongqing Forestry Bureau.

In March 2007, it was awarded the title of "Consumer Trusted Enterprise for 2005–2006" by the Chongqing Fuling District Consumer Rights Protection Committee.

In January 2008, it was named one of the "Top Ten Most Popular Scenic Spots among Tourists in 2007" by the Chongqing Municipal Tourism Administration and Chongqing Evening News.
