The Tomb of General Zhang Zizhong is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit and a classic red tourism site.

The Martyrs' Cemetery of General Zhang Zizhong is among the first group of key national protected martyrs' buildings and a national patriotic education base. Situated at the foot of Meihua Mountain in the southwestern part of Beibei District, Chongqing—within the city center—the cemetery was built to commemorate General Zhang Zizhong’s valiant fight against Japanese invaders during the War of Resistance Against Japan, specifically his martyrdom in Nangua Store, Yicheng, Hubei. Covering an area of 25 acres, the cemetery has expanded from just the burial area to include green zones, a memorial area, a memorial square, a bronze statue of General Zhang Zizhong, and a cluster of sculptures themed on the War of Resistance. It also features a 208-square-meter General Memorial Hall and a 153-square-meter reception hall. The cemetery is built against the mountain, facing north, and is surrounded by lush trees, creating a solemn and respectful atmosphere.

On October 7, 2019, the Martyrs' Cemetery of General Zhang Zizhong was included in the eighth batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.

Zhang Zizhong, courtesy name Jinchen, was born in August 1891 in Linqing County, Shandong Province. Influenced early on by Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s revolutionary ideas, he joined the Tongmenghui (Chinese Revolutionary Alliance) while studying at Tianjin Law and Politics School, later trading his pen for a sword. In September 1917, he joined the forces under General Feng Yuxiang. Recognized for his diligence in study and bravery in battle, he earned Feng’s high esteem and rose through the ranks—from soldier to commander of the 38th Division, concurrently serving as the Commander of Zhangjiakou garrison, Chairman of Chahar Province, Mayor of Beiping (now Beijing), and Mayor of Tianjin.
