Sichuan East Guerrilla Uprising Memorial Park is a classic site for red tourism.

Sichuan East Guerrilla Uprising Memorial Park, also known as the Fengda-Wu Uprising Memorial Park, is located in Ningqiao Village, Xiabao Town, Wuxi County, 25 kilometers from the county seat of Wuxi. It covers an area of 0.5 mu, with a protected zone spanning 2.5 square kilometers. The memorial park is surrounded by three commemorative walls, with a black marble monument at its center inscribed with a red five-pointed star and the gilded characters “Fengda-Wu Uprising Memorial Monument.” The walls feature “An Introduction to the Fengda-Wu Uprising” and “The Roll of Honor of the Fengda-Wu Uprising.”

In November 1947, the Sichuan East Temporary Committee and the Lower Sichuan East Local Working Committee decided to launch armed struggles in the Lower Sichuan East region and organized armed uprisings in Wuxi, Yunyang, Fengjie, and Wushan. Subsequently, the Fengda-Wu Detachment of the Sichuan East Guerrilla Column was established, with Peng Yongwu concurrently serving as the detachment’s political commissar. On the eve of the uprising, the plan was leaked. Peng Yongwu and the Fengda-Wu Working Committee made a decisive decision to change the strategy and attack the weakly defended Xining Bridge. On the evening of January 6, 1948, the uprising forces split into two routes—one advancing directly from the back street to seize the bunker, which had been left unguarded, and the other charging into Ningqiao Street, quickly occupying the Xining Township Office and the upper and lower street entrances. They captured the deputy township militia commander Yu Zhenxiang, seized 27 guns, and confiscated over 60 silver dollars along with local cloth, sundries, grain, and other property from wealthy landlords. The armed uprising at Xining Bridge marked the first battle of the Fengda-Wu Uprising.
