Jianfengling Tianchi is located in a high mountain basin at an altitude of 800 meters in Jianfengling, 25 kilometers away from the Beibu Gulf. With an average annual temperature of 20°C, it is embraced by 18 towering peaks that rise a thousand meters high and look like rolling green waves, surrounding a 600-acre alpine lake with crystal-clear, undisturbed blue waters. It is the highest-altitude and largest alpine lake in the tropical rainforest. It lies 25 kilometers from the Beibu Gulf, covers an area of 40 hectares, and has a maximum depth of about 20 meters. Surrounded by evergreen rainforest and with water that remains perpetually blue, this ecological lake—South Tianchi—is encircled by mountains and vast stretches of sapphire water. It is said to be the sacred bathing site of Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy, from the legend of the South Sea. The average annual temperature is 19.7°C, the summer average is 22°C, offering warmth in winter and coolness in summer, making it your ideal summer escape.

Within the Tianchi tourist area, there are other breathtaking natural wonders, such as Mingfeng Valley where hundreds of bird species gather, Tianchi Botanical Garden known for the "one tree becomes a forest" phenomenon, and the Hu Xiaolongyin area featuring a variety of uniquely shaped natural stone carvings. It’s truly a scene at every step, immersing visitors in the awe-inspiring magic of nature.

Transportation Guide

Sanya — Jianfeng Town

Take a provincial bus from Sanya Bus Terminal or West Station to Huangliu Town, which generally runs every 15 minutes and takes about one and a half hours. Upon arriving in Huangliu, take a private Liuzhou-style minivan near the Huangliu Town bus station to Jianfeng Town. These leave anytime and the ride takes about 40 minutes. The fare is 4 RMB.

Haikou — Jianfeng Town

Long-distance buses to Jianfengling depart from Haikou’s Provincial Long-Distance West Station. Departure times are 08:30, 10:30, and 11:45, with a travel time of 4.5 hours and a fare of 49 RMB. To return to Haikou, board at the entrance of the Agricultural Bank of China in Jianfengling Town at 14:30, 15:30, and 16:30.

Jianfeng Town — Jianfengling National Forest Park

There is one shuttle bus per day to the park gate and Tianchi on the mountain, usually departing at 10:00. The return trip leaves Tianchi at 07:00 the next day.
