Kuixing Pagoda - One of the well-preserved ancient pagodas in Hainan Province. Kuixing Pagoda stands in the classic old town of Zhonghe, Danzhou. It is a small stone pagoda built in the late Qing Dynasty, featuring an irregular octagonal base, seven visible stories, and a square stone base. The interior of the pagoda is hollow, with short eaves extending from each level. The arched entrance on the first floor is too narrow to enter, and the windows are shaped like coins. The finial consists of an upward-facing canopy supporting a round bead, with a pomegranate-shaped top. The back wall of the first level bears two engraved lines: "Renovated in the auspicious month of the Year of Yimai (1895) during the Guangxu reign, by the land and naval troops of Danzhou." This pagoda boasts a unique design, refined craftsmanship, and remains well-preserved. The ancient town of Zhonghe was once the seat of Danzhou Prefecture. During the Song Dynasty, the great literary figure Su Dongpo was exiled here for three years. Due to Su Dongpo’s influence on local culture, poetry and couplet composition have been cherished here for centuries, earning Zhonghe the reputation as the "Hometown of Poetry and Couplets." The area is rich in historical sites, including the Dongpo Academy, the Guanglang Hermitage, and the Dongpo Well to the east of the town. The ancient city walls, built during the Song Dynasty, still retain their west and north gates, reflecting the grandeur of the city in its prime.
