Yangpu Special Economic Zone

Located on the Yangpu Peninsula at the northwest corner of Danzhou City. In March 1992, the State Council approved the establishment of an economic development zone here. It combines the preferential policies of a special zone, a bonded zone, and a development zone, serving as a “comprehensive experimental field” for China’s reform and opening-up.

The development zone is closely connected to Danzhou Bay, where the 3-kilometer-long Yangpu Nose on both sides of the bay entrance separates it from the Beibu Gulf, resembling two dikes built into the vast Beibu Gulf, blocking the surging waves and keeping the waters inside Yangpu Port calm. A few kilometers from the Yangpu central area lies an ancient salt field site, which possesses a kind of primitive beauty and is highly worth visiting.
