On the misty, wave-tossed Xisha Islands, historically known as the “Thousand-Mile Long Sands and Ten-Thousand-Mile Rocky Banks,” located about 180 nautical miles from Hainan Island, together with the Dongsha, Zhongsha, and Nansha Islands, they form the southernmost territory of China.

The Xisha Islands comprise 45 islets, reefs, and sandbanks, with Yongxing Island being the primary inhabited area. Over 40 species of birds inhabit the Xisha Islands, most of which dwell on East Xisha Island. There are more than 400 species of coral fish and oceanic fish. Within a sea area stretching 250 kilometers in length and about 150 nautical miles in width, countless beautiful and diverse coral reefs are distributed.
