Lotus Pavilion

The Bo’ao Lotus Pavilion is located within the grounds of the Oriental Culture Park, adjacent to the Bo’ao Buddhist Temple and facing the Shamei Inner Sea. The “Bo’ao Oriental Culture Park · Lotus Pavilion” fills a domestic gap as a specialized exhibition hall dedicated entirely to lotus culture, offering comprehensive insights into the science, applications, history, and other aspects of lotuses.

This is a thematic exhibition pavilion dedicated to the lotus. The site covers an area of 600 square meters, with a building area of 1,300 square meters and an exhibition area of 800 square meters.

The main structure consists of two floors, standing 11 meters high. It houses six exhibition halls of varying sizes, suitable for hosting various types of displays. The pavilion features three specialized cultural exhibitions: “The Legend of Dahelotus,” “The World of Lotus Culture,” and “The Compassionate Lotus — Lotus and Buddhism,” as well as a fully digitalized “Lotus Science” knowledge exhibition hall and a “Practical Knowledge of the Lotus” exhibition where visitors can take home what they learn. Additionally, there is a multifunctional exhibition hall available for hosting various lotus culture-themed exhibitions.

In the Seven Treasures Lotus Pond in front of the Lotus Pavilion, 66 varieties of precious lotus flowers grow bathed in the blessings of Buddhism. Buddhist scriptures describe lotuses growing in the Seven Treasures Lotus Ponds of the Pure Land, nourished by the Eight Merits Water, which is why Buddhism regards the lotus as a symbol of purity and holiness. The 66 varieties of precious lotuses growing in the pond, immersed in spiritual grace, symbolize “Prosperity in All Directions (He He, also homophonous with ‘Lotus’).”
