Ancient County Yamen, Lecheng

Lecheng, located outside the western boundary of Bo’ao Water City and along the Chaoyang section of the Wanquan River basin, was once the site of the ancient county seat of “Lehui.” Established as a county in the fourth year of the Yuandade era, it boasts a history of nearly 700 years.

Having withstood over seven centuries of historical upheavals and unpredictable dynastic changes, the ever-burning incense at the Temple of the City God, the crisscrossing ancient stone-paved roads, the proudly standing pillars of the ancient county yamen, and the old city walls still silently tell the story of its former glory. Although few ruins of the ancient town remain, visitors with an interest in history and exploration can always sense the prosperity and vibrancy that Lehui Ancient Town once enjoyed.

Additionally, even if you have no interest in history, the area’s near-perfect ecological environment, its vast network of tropical farmland, readily available tropical fruits, quaint traditional houses, simple and peaceful local customs, the crystal-clear waters of the Wanquan River, and the graceful coconut and betel nut trees are more than enough to leave every visitor to Lecheng Island with unforgettable memories.
