This lotus-shaped scenic spot is called: Unity After Ninety-Nine. In ancient numerology, “nine” was the largest digit, and it was said that “the number ninety-nine aligns with the way of heaven.” The so-called “returning to one” teaches and reminds people that heaven, earth, and humanity are originally one. The nine lotus petals, each taller than a person, along with the Guanyin statues on them, symbolize the “Nine-Grade Lotus Throne” mentioned in Buddhism. In the Western Pure Land, there are Nine-Grade Lotus Thrones. Those who have cultivated well in their past lives can be reborn from the lotus into the pure land. The pure land is divided into nine grades. Depending on how frequently one chants the Buddha’s name and the extent of one’s good deeds, the speed at which the lotus blooms is categorized into nine levels—this is the “Nine-Grade Lotus Throne.” The nine Guanyin Bodhisattvas enshrined here represent nine different inner needs of people. Visitors can choose one of the Guanyin statues to worship based on the descriptions provided, and sprinkle holy water from the heart of the lotus onto the statue to fulfill their wishes. 1.
