Zhongyuan Town is located in the southern part of Qionghai City, bordered by the picturesque Wanquan River to the east, the majestic Baishi Ridge to the west, and adjacent to Jiaji Town—the seat of Qionghai’s municipal government—to the north. In the 1950s, it served as the seat of the former Leihui County Government, and has long been known as the “Commercial Hub of Southern Qionghai” and the “Hometown of Overseas Chinese.” Zhongyuan Town also lies at the midpoint of the East Expressway and serves as another key access route to Bo’ao, the idyllic seaside town. Thanks to its prime geographical location, Zhongyuan Town has become an important stop along Hainan’s eastern golden tourism route. The town’s major restaurants welcome thousands—sometimes even tens of thousands—of visitors on average every day. Strolling through the town, shaded by lush and uniquely shaped rain trees, you’ll find streets lined with vibrantly colored shophouses in hues of yellow, red, and green, all exuding a strong Nanyang (Southeast Asia) flair. The storefronts have been outfitted with uniform wooden signs or consistently styled plaques, giving the streets a vividly colorful appearance. The vibrant flower pots displayed outside shops, the exquisitely carved pillars, and the nostalgic-style street lamps all add a beautiful touch to this newly developed Nanyang-style town.

Zhongyuan Town: Located in the southeastern part of Qionghai City at 19°8′N latitude and 110°27′E longitude, Zhongyuan Town is 101 km from the provincial capital Haikou, 15 km from the municipal seat Jiaji, and 10 km from Bo’ao Water City. It borders the scenic Wanquan River to the east, the majestic Baishi Ridge to the west, Wanning City to the south, and Jiaji Town to the north, making it one of the seven towns through which the Wanquan River flows.
