Fengcun Site (Fourth Batch of Provincial-Level Protected Sites)

Period: Neolithic Age

Address: Fengcun, Huafeng Township, Yuanqu County

The site is situated on the plateau hills between the Baiqingsha and Yunxi rivers at the southern foot of the Zhongtiao Mountains. The terrain is higher in the north and lower in the south, surrounded by gullies on the east, west, and south sides, and adjacent to the village on the north, with parts of the site lying beneath the foundations of village residences. It extends approximately 500 meters from east to west and about 1,000 meters from north to south, covering a total area of around 500,000 square meters, with cultural layers ranging from 0.5 to 5 meters in thickness. Its cultural remains include those from the Yangshao Culture, Miaodigou Phase II Culture, Longshan Culture, and the Dongxiafeng type of the Erlitou Culture. Unearthed artifacts mainly consist of various pottery pieces, stone tools, bone implements, and animal bones. Discovered cultural features include circular bag-shaped pits, oval pits, cylindrical pits, rectangular pits, house foundations, ash ditches, and urn burials from different periods.
