Tianpan Mountain Primitive Ancient Forest Scenic Area

With an altitude of 1,888 meters, the Tianpan Mountain Primitive Ancient Forest Scenic Area is located 17.3 kilometers east of Yuanqu County along the Xinwang Highway, at the edge of the Lishan Primitive Forest. Together with Wangxian Three Pools Waterfall, it forms a green tourism corridor and is a key eco-tourism base in Yuanqu County.

Tianpan Mountain rises vertically from 690 meters to 1,888 meters in altitude, forming a terraced landscape featuring Hanging Spring Waterfall, Tianpan Ancient Forest, Heavenly Lake, Stone Figure, Stone Mirror, Recumbent Dragon Spring, and Tiger Roar Spring. The scenery is picturesque all year round—spring brings blooming flowers, summer offers ancient trees and flowing springs, autumn paints the mountains red with foliage, and winter decorates the area with icefalls and snow lotuses. This is a forest oxygen bar for health and vitality, as well as a beautiful earthly paradise. Mid-mountain features a summer resort and an Anti-Japanese Armed Forces Memorial Hall, while the mountaintop offers an observation deck, Red Cliff Hanging Spring, a maple leaf viewing area, a hunting ground, a wildlife park, and local game delicacies. Here you can stay in mountain villas, savor wild mountain cuisine, and enjoy the ancient forest and hanging springs. It's a place where you can experience the romance of nature and the education of revolutionary history. Tianpan Mountain is truly a uniquely stunning modern mountain. Since 2005, it has welcomed hundreds of thousands of visitors. Shunbao Ecotourism Company plans to further invest in building cable cars and elevators, restoring two large temples, establishing a renowned mountain in North China to promote the culture of Emperor Yao and Emperor Shun, offering a premium travel brand, and creating a pristine land of blue skies with a modern living environment.

Not only is Tianpan Mountain scenically captivating, but it was also a base of struggle for the anti-Japanese government of Yuanqu County. Countless revolutionary predecessors fought here, giving rise to many anti-Japanese heroes. Many heroes also sacrificed their lives here. It is the cradle of revolution, where aspiring youth often climb the mountain to learn from the spirit of their predecessors, follow in the footsteps of the revolution, walk the path of guerrilla fighters, and enjoy a red journey through the green cover.

Introduction to the Yuanqu County Revolutionary Base Memorial Hall

The Revolutionary Base Memorial Hall is located in the northeastern part of Yuanqu County, 25 kilometers from the county town, situated between the Tianpan Mountain Scenic Area and the Wangxian Three Pools Waterfall Scenic Area, within the jurisdiction of Wangxian Village, Lishan Town. The museum began operations in 2005, took three years to complete with a total investment of 2.1 million yuan, and officially opened on July 1, 2007.

In order to implement the spirit of the [2008] No. 2 document jointly issued by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Culture, and the State Administration of Cultural Heritage regarding the “Free Admission Policy for National Museums and Memorial Halls,” and to respond to the call for the great development and prosperity of socialist culture, as well as to better leverage the social value of the Revolutionary Base Memorial Hall as a public cultural institution, our memorial hall has been open to the public free of charge since July 1, 2008. From its opening until November 30, 2009, it had received over 93,000 visitors.

The Revolutionary Base Memorial Hall covers an area of more than 6,800 square meters, with a construction area of 3,200 square meters. It is divided into three to five exhibition areas, comprising 36 exhibition rooms, with over 500 square meters of murals, more than 300 authentic historical photographs collected, and over 891 various exhibits and cultural relics excavated and gathered.

The Revolutionary Base Memorial Hall is a subordinate unit of Shunbao Ecotourism Development Co., Ltd. in Yuanqu County. The museum currently has six staff members, including one curator, two security guards cum curators, two guides, and one archivist.

The Revolutionary Base Memorial Hall has been designated as the “Yuncheng City Patriotic Education Base” by the Yuncheng Municipal Government, the “Shanxi Provincial Science Education Base” by the Shanxi Provincial Association for Science and Technology, and the “Yuanqu County Youth Education Base” by the Yuanqu County Committee on the Care of the Next Generation. It is currently applying for recognition as the “Shanxi Provincial Patriotic Education Base” and the “National Science Education Base.”

The “Revolutionary Base Memorial Hall” has opened up new channels for red tourism in Yuanqu, filled a gap, and added a highlight. Its aim is to promote the revolutionary spirit of Yuanqu’s martyrs; inherit the virtues of Emperor Shun—morality, filial piety, benevolence, and kindness; document the splendor of folk customs and ancient culture; and establish a base for patriotic education, moral education, and traditional education.

Introduction to the Immortal Spring Valley Corridor

The Immortal Spring Valley Corridor is located in the Shita Gorge to the northwest of Tianpan Mountain, stretching 9 kilometers in total, with 3 kilometers of developed valley corridor oxygen bar. It features over 69 clear streams and pools, more than 9,600 ancient trees and vines, as well as attractions such as Dragon Pool Waterfall, Stone Stair Pool, Gold Panning Stream, Dragon King Temple, Ancient Willow, Sleeping Beauty Valley, Horse Drinking Pool, Immortal Spring, and a water park, all woven throughout the corridor.

Here, the mountains are lush and the waters are clear, with naturally beautiful scenery. Small waterfalls and stone pools extend to the end of the valley along the corridor. Ancient trees and vines entwine the upper and lower sides of the corridor. As people walk beneath the corridor and through the streams and pools, or sit leisurely among peculiar rocks and ancient trees, listening quietly to birds chirping and watching goldfish swim in the stream, they may truly feel like immortals.

A vacation here is like entering a heavenly paradise—bathing in the forest, dining on mountain villa delicacies, wandering along the stream corridor, fishing in the water park.
