Red Leaf National Forest Park is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction and a national-level forest park.

Red Leaf National Forest Park is located to the northeast of Debao County. As a prefecture-level forest park, it is 3.5 kilometers from the county town and enjoys convenient transportation. The park covers a total area of 729.39 hectares, of which the maple forest spans 243.76 hectares, accounting for 30.8% of the entire park; the rocky mountain forest and shrubland cover an area of 273.2 hectares, making up 34.5% of the park; the forest coverage rate reaches 87.82%.

In November 2010, it was designated as a prefecture-level forest park. The core scenic areas of the park are the Red Maple Lake Scenic Area and the Red Leaf Valley Scenic Area, both themed around red maples. In the golden autumn season, the fiery maple leaves and the gentle lake water complement and enhance each other, creating a poetic and picturesque scene. The main variety of red leaves in the park is the sweet gum, with leaf colors including deep red, crimson, rosy red, and mixed yellow-red hues. The viewing period is long, earning it the reputation of “Debao’s Maple Leaves Rival Jiuzhaigou,” making it a stunning highlight of the autumn season.

The park is centered around the maple forests of Red Maple Lake and Red Leaf Valley, showcasing a vibrant landscape of red leaf forests, forest ecological scenery, rich cultural heritage, and enchanting hydrological views. It forms a large leisure and summer retreat circle that includes Red Maple Lake, Shangzhang Lake, and Red Leaf Valley. Within the scenic area, Shangzhang Reservoir and Baibu Reservoir complement each other beautifully, with total capacities of 3.65 million cubic meters and 1.9 million cubic meters respectively, and effective irrigation areas of 2,200 mu and 2,000 mu. Currently, various infrastructure facilities in the scenic area are being gradually improved. Debao County is home to over 100,000 mu of contiguous maple forests, spread across urban areas and towns such as Chengguan, Najia, Maxian, and Batou. In addition to Red Leaf National Forest Park, there are many uniquely charming maple-viewing spots along the route from Maxian to Batou, all of which are incredibly captivating.
