Putuo Baofeng

Putuo Baofeng is located on the left side of Dage Village, Tanghe Township, Langping. On the mountainside, there is a stone cave, behind which a rock resembles Guanyin sitting on a lotus pedestal—hence the name.

From the mountain foot to the cave entrance, over 200 logs are laid as a makeshift bridge. The cave faces west and is situated eastward, with an entrance 6 meters wide and 3 meters high. Inside, the cave twists and turns into the depths, yet the ground remains flat. To the left of the cave entrance, there are 15 wooden statues carved from ding wood. Around the cave—above, below, and on both sides—strange rocks are scattered. About 10 meters into the cave from the entrance, on the right, there is a natural slab of stone, 2 meters long and 1.3 meters wide, with a smooth surface that can be used for sleeping; it is called the “Dragon Bed.”

Behind the cave, there is a hole called the “Dragon Gate.” Outside the Dragon Gate lies a small flat area where a rock shaped like a coiled snake is found—it is called the “Rock Dragon.”

Both the head and tail of the Rock Dragon have a protruding stone, each about 0.3 meters high. Viewed from a distance, it looks as if Guanyin is holding a willow branch in one hand, cradling a pure vase in the other, seated upon a lotus.

Standing at the cave entrance and looking out, the undulating peaks resemble children herding sheep in play; in winter, when looking toward Mount Cenwanglaoshan in the distance, the snow-covered peaks appear pure white, like ice sculptures, set against a deep blue sky, making one feel a profound sense of openness and purity.
