Ganhe – Ganmo Rock Scenic Area

Introduction The Ganhe – Ganmo Rock Scenic Area is located in the towns of Duixu, Bangxu, and Liming in the northeastern part of Pingguo County, within a range of 65–90 kilometers from downtown Pingguo. Ganhe is the lower reaches of the Pingzhi River. The Pingzhi River originates in the area around Ganmo Rock in Liming Township, with a total length of about 50 kilometers. The mountains in the Ganhe – Ganmo Rock Scenic Area are not only beautiful but also unique. There is Tianjing Mountain, formed by the collapse of a mountain to create an arch resembling a giant mirror; a natural bridge over 30 meters high and over 100 meters wide, like a city gate piercing through the mountain; Heiyan (Black Rock), which is wider on the east and narrower on the west, with uniquely fascinating lighting; as well as picturesque caves such as Shenxian Cave, Gefeng Cave, and Lianzhu Cave. Ganmo Rock, located in Liming Township, is one of the rare large karst cave systems in China and abroad, boasting extremely high potential for tourism development.

Ganmo Rock, also known as Hongjun Cave (Red Army Cave), is 3,150 meters long with a cave hall area of 34,000 square meters. It was once a battleground where the Red Army fought against local bandits. Inside the cave, there are still remnants of activities from the Seventh Red Army, such as stone benches and large stone slabs used for living and working. The cave features numerous formations including stone waterfalls, stone terraces, rimstone dams, and majestic stone stalagmites. The wonder of Ganmo Rock also lies in its underground river. Drifting slowly along the underground river by bamboo raft, visitors can not only admire the spectacular scenery of towering peaks on both sides but also appreciate the strange and faintly visible stalactites in the river. Enhanced by lighting, the scene is dreamlike and mesmerizing, making it hard to leave. Ganmo Rock complements the scenic Ganhe area, forming a complete surface and underground karst landscape tourism system with great value for sightseeing, scientific research, and cultural education.

Geographic coordinates: 23°45′N to 23°53′N, 107°26′E to 107°33′E.
