The Stone Alley Maze is situated on Qing Shan Ling in Sha Lan Village, Xiangzhou Town, Xiangzhou County, covering around 5 hectares. Formed naturally, this stone alley maze consists of rock walls about 4 meters tall with fish-scale textures. The alleys are spacious enough for two people to walk abreast in wider sections, yet so narrow in others that you must turn sideways to squeeze through. Inside, there are bizarrely shaped rock walls and boulders, winding and serpentine alleys, stone gates, lifelike stone statues, and ancient vines in tangled profusion — all of which are truly breathtaking and a feast for the eyes. The pathways are crisscrossing and twisting; without paying attention to the signs, it’s very easy to lose your way. Once you exit the maze, you’ll see peach and plum trees nearby, their fruits just beginning to form, while distant green mountains lie under a veil of mist. A gentle mountain breeze refreshes the air. The entire stone alley maze resembles a European-style castle. Owing to the dense coverage of shrubs and wild vines, the maze remains extremely well hidden.

Geomorphology experts believe that the Stone Alley Maze was formed around 350 to 400 million years ago during the Devonian period, shaped by changes in the seafloor crust and long-term erosion by water, making it a unique karst landform.

Fossils from ancient times can be found everywhere around the maze, often lying around within easy reach, in strange and curious shapes. The surrounding peach orchards, plum orchards, persimmon groves, and bamboo forests offer plenty of shade, allowing you to leisurely escape the summer heat, barbecue delicious food, relax and play at natural stone tables, and find it hard to leave.
