Dashuang River Eco-Recreation Scenic Area
Dashuang River Eco-Recreation Scenic Area combines rivers, springs, waterfalls, cliffs, pebble beaches, and forests, characterized by serene mountains, beautiful waters, lush woods, and spectacular waterfalls. The river sections wind through dramatic drops, with shallow rapids, scattered pebbles, and channels that vary in width and flow—sometimes swift, sometimes gentle—with clear, high-quality water in abundant supply. The surrounding forests are dense and lush, emerald green, featuring not only Masson pine woods but also natural mixed forests and rich undergrowth vegetation. The spaces along the river offer endless variety—open or enclosed, large or small—ranging from expansive pebble beaches and grassy fields to secluded, tranquil cliff canyons. Scattered village houses near the scenic area’s entrance blend seamlessly into the mountain forests and fields, creating picturesque scenes full of unique charm.
The hot spring spa water in the Dashuang River Scenic Area is sourced from deep wells. Facilities include an outdoor specialty spa massage pool that can accommodate about 200 people, as well as fish therapy pools, flower therapy pools, and aromatherapy pools. Additionally, 8–10 small log cabins are built along the mountain terrain, each equipped with an open-air bath tub to cater to different customer preferences. Moreover, the hot spring recreation area and the rafting area complement each other seasonally—rafting is the main summer activity, while the hot spring spa is the primary winter attraction.
Walking on water is something even the most skilled swimmers can’t do—but you can experience “walking on water like a martial artist” by trying the water walking ball. In the scenic area’s river channels, there are two large pools named Dashuang Pool and Xushuang Pool. Both are surrounded by steep cliffs and feature wide, crystal-clear surfaces. In the middle of Dashuang Pool lies a small island with rugged rocks, where a water walking ball is set up for visitors to experience the sensation of “walking on water.”
In 2011, a large water park was newly built in the scenic area, covering approximately 2,000 square meters. The park mainly features water slides, including high-altitude slides, spiral slides, double slides, children’s slides, children’s spray frames, children’s treehouses, colorful spray rings, water swings, and water trampolines—making it a leisure paradise for parent-child interaction and friendly gatherings.
The so-called “spa” takes place in a dynamic aquatic environment. Its biological effects are related not only to the physics, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics of still or moving water. The most basic and noticeable function of hydrotherapy is its profound impact on the body’s equilibrium system. Over the past decade, “SPA hydrotherapy” has become a trend in major cities such as New York, Paris, London, and Tokyo. Beyond serving as a place for leisure, wellness, health care, and socializing, the most important aspect is that complete and correct “SPA hydrotherapy” can effectively improve one’s health condition, release mental stress, and relax muscles—thereby promoting overall physical and mental well-being with immense benefits.
Hot spring fish therapy originated in Turkey and involves releasing tiny fish called “Campbell” (also known as “doctor fish”), which are less than 2 cm long and live near hot spring outlets, into the spa pools. Due to their unique living habits, these fish can swim comfortably even in water as hot as 43 degrees Celsius. The most remarkable phenomenon is that when a person enters the pool, the fish immediately surround them and gently “nibble.” Of course, they don’t bite—they stimulate the skin by kissing it and pecking away dead skin cells, bacteria, and pore secretions, thereby stimulating nerve endings and clearing the pores. This natural, medicine-free therapy offers unique benefits for common skin conditions like scars and athlete’s foot, as well as for skin beauty, with absolutely no side effects.
The rafting course uses pure natural mountain spring water, catering to different age groups and varying levels of thrill-seeking. The entire rafting route is about 2.8 kilometers long, featuring three major sharp turns, three intense rapids, and a maximum drop of about 6 meters—offering excitement and thrills. There are also more than ten small slopes for a leisurely and relaxing experience.
