Martyr Lai Xichou’s Tomb

Martyr Lai Xichou’s Tomb is a cultural relic protection unit of Sihui City.

Martyr Lai Xichou’s Tomb is located in Yingjiao Village, Longfu Town. Originally built in the 15th year of the Republic of China (1926), it was renovated in 1983 and 1993 respectively. The tomb faces south. It covers an area of 168 square meters. The tombstone is a square pillar-shaped structure, built with blue bricks and finished with stone plaster, standing 2.75 meters tall in total. The front of the tombstone is inlaid with granite stone, inscribed with “Tomb of Martyr Lai Xichou” in intaglio. The base of the tombstone is 1 meter high, with an inscription on the front side that details Lai Xichou’s life and deeds. The platform is 14 meters long and 12 meters wide, surrounded by a perimeter wall.

In 1986, Martyr Lai Xichou’s Tomb was designated as a cultural relic protection unit of Sihui County.

Lai Xichou was born on February 18, 1896, into a farming family in Zhongtianlang Village, Longtoubao (now Yingjiao Village Committee, Longfu Town, Sihui County).

As a child, Xichou was exceptionally intelligent and, being the only son in several generations, was deeply cherished by his parents. At the age of seven, his parents, though living frugally, sent him to a nearby private school. They hoped he would study hard, achieve success, and eventually secure an official position that would not only bring honor to their ancestors but also protect him from being bullied by the wealthy.
