Former Site of the Fenghuang Mountain Defense Works of the 11th Arsenal of the Nationalist Government

The Former Site of the Fenghuang Mountain Defense Works of the 11th Arsenal of the Nationalist Government is a cultural relic protection unit of Hunan Province.

In 1936, the Ministry of War of the Nationalist Government selected a site in Dongjiaduan, Lusong District, expropriating 5,481 mu of land to build a shell factory. Comprising a gun factory, a shell factory, a cartridge factory, and a power plant, it was collectively known as the Zhuzhou Arsenal. While constructing the arsenal, fortifications, bunkers, defense works, and ammunition depots were also built on the surrounding hills in Dongjiaduan.

The defense works are now open to the public and include 8 gun emplacements and 8 underground bunker positions. The bunkers are interconnected and linked to the underground air-raid shelters of the factory area. Xiao Jin, deputy director of the city museum, introduced that the ammunition depot is located at the foot of Fenghuang Mountain, constructed with concrete, measuring 89 meters in length and 67 meters in width. The four corners of the ammunition depot each have access tunnels, each covering an area of over 2,000 square meters.

Dongjiaduan Subdistrict: The former Wulidun Township and Dongjiaduan Subdistrict were merged to form the current Dongjiaduan Subdistrict.

　Dongjiaduan Subdistrict is located in the southeastern corner of Zhuzhou City, bordered by the Zhejiang-Jiangxi Railway to the east, the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway and Line 1815 to the west, and adjacent to Longquan Subdistrict, Fengxi Subdistrict, and Wulidun Township. It administers 10 community committees: Xinyue, Xingfu, Youhao, Zhongxin, Laodong, Nanyuan, Nanhua, Xinquan, Xinli, and Nanyan, as well as over 30 natural villages.
