The Xiang-Gui Ancient Road (Shuangpai Section)

The Xiang-Gui Ancient Road (Shuangpai Section) is a cultural relic protection unit of Hunan Province.

The Xiang-Gui Ancient Road (Shuangpai Section) is a provincially protected ancient architectural site, primarily centered around the Lu Ancestral Hall in Guanwenkou Village, Longbo Town. Major heritage sites along this section include a money shop, a residence of a successful imperial examinee, shops, a fabric store, a private school, ancient bridges, ancient wells, ancient stone-paved roads, and arched cobblestone paths.

It is understood that the Xiang-Gui Ancient Road (Shuangpai Section) is now the fourth provincial-level protected site in Shuangpai County. Previously, the three other provincial-level protected sites were the ancient well, ancient pagoda, and ancient stone carvings on Yangmingshan Mountain, the ancient residences in Jiangcun Fangyao, and the ancient residences of the Wu Family Courtyard in Lijiaping.

The successful approval of the Xiang-Gui Ancient Road (Shuangpai Section) as a provincial-level heritage site not only holds significant reference value for verifying, correcting, and supplementing the history of transportation development in our province, but also, the heritage sites along the ancient road have had a major impact on the lives of local residents and the socio-economic development of the area. It will effectively promote the development of the region’s natural ecology, tourism resources, and green products, and will be of great significance in advancing the advancement of local society, economy, cultural relics, and tourism.

In 2019, the Xiang-Gui Ancient Road (Shuangpai Section) was included in the list of the tenth batch of provincial-level cultural relic protection units in Hunan Province.
