Tomb of Xiong Bolong

The Tomb of Xiong Bolong is a cultural relic protection unit of Hubei Province.

The Tomb of Xiong Bolong is located in Jiuruqiao Village, Daji Street, Caidian District, Wuhan City, and is a Qing Dynasty burial site. The tomb mound faces south and is circular in shape, with an earthen mound standing 3 meters high. The gravestone is 1.5 meters tall and 0.65 meters wide, erected in the 11th year of the Yongzheng reign of the Qing Dynasty (1733), with the inscription reading “Tomb of Xiong Zhongling, the Second Place Scholar in the Yiyou Imperial Examination, Posthumously Honored as Scholar with the Title of Grand Master of Ceremonies, Granted by the Imperial Qing Court”; there is also an outer graveyard. Xiong Bolong (1616–1669), a native of Caidian, Wuhan, was a renowned atheist of the Qing Dynasty. He achieved the second place in the 6th year of the Shunzhi reign (1649), and held various official positions including Compiler at the National History Institute, Attendant Reader at the Inner Hanlin Secretariat, Libationer at the Imperial College, and concurrently Cabinet Scholar and Vice Minister of Rites. He authored works such as the Complete Collection of Guyitang and the Collection of Wuhé. Initially buried in Longwozhang, Xuefengbao, Zhuankou, his remains were relocated to the current site during the Qianlong reign. The tomb is well-preserved and holds significant academic value.
