Houguanhu Wetland Park

Houguanhu Wetland Park is a national AAA-level tourist attraction and a national wetland park.

With a planned area of 3,186.3 hectares, Houguanhu Wetland Park is three times the size of East Lake Wetland Park, making it the largest wetland park currently under construction in Wuhan. Located west of the Third Ring Road and in the central-northern part of Caidian, it includes Bailian Lake, Pisi Lake, Shaoji Lake, Wangjia Lake, Gao Lake, and the surrounding land areas.

The provincial-level Houguanhu Wetland Park is home to 130 species of waterbirds and woodland birds, including 71 individuals of the nationally first-class protected bird, the hooded crane, and 383 individuals of the nationally second-class protected bird, the common crane. It also hosts four species of fish under key protection in Hubei Province—such as Zacco platypus, Luciobrama macrocephalus, Acantopsis choirorhynchos, and Leiocassis longirostris—as well as four species of provincially protected mammals, including the Chinese hare, hog badger, masked palm civet, and lesser muntjac.

The development of Houguanhu Wetland Park is planned to take eight years, with construction undertaken by Wuhan Caidian Modern Agriculture Investment Co., Ltd., and a projected investment of over 444 million yuan.
