The Chengtang City Ruins are a protected cultural heritage site of Hubei Province.

Chengtang City Ruins

Located 700 meters southeast of Baihuzhen Village, Gedian Town, Ezhou City, these are ruins from the Sui Dynasty, covering an area of approximately 12,000 square meters. The city site has a rectangular layout, about 380 meters long from north to south and 315 meters wide from east to west. The eastern, southern, and western sides are fortified with rammed earth walls, while the northern side is protected by Guanyin Mountain. The walls are 2–4.2 meters wide, with remaining heights of 0.5–2.5 meters. In the southeastern part of the city, a well and a Sui Dynasty brick-chambered tomb have been unearthed. According to the Qing-era *Wuchang County Annals*, the city was commissioned to be built by County Magistrate Xi Shixuan in the early Sui Dynasty and was abandoned in the ninth year of the Kaihuang era (613 AD).
