Lao Ying Town, also known as Wudangshan Town, is the essential gateway to visiting Mount Wudang and serves as the transportation hub for exploring the Wudang Mountain Scenic Area.

Introduction:

Lao Ying Town is located at the northern foot of Mount Wudang, at an altitude of about 180 meters, and is the site of the Wudang Mountain Scenic Area Administration. During the Ming Dynasty, when the major construction of the Wudang Taoist complex took place, this area was home to the craftsmen working on the project, hence the name "Lao Ying" (Old Camp). Since the Ming Dynasty, a popular rhyme has circulated here: “The scenery of Nan Yan and the cypresses of Zixiao, once you reach Lao Ying, you won’t want to leave home.” This gives a sense of the prosperity the town once enjoyed. Today, the electrified Xiangyu Railway and the Han-Shi Highway run east-west through the town, making transportation very convenient.
