Wudang Mountain South Sacred Path
Wudang Mountain South Sacred Path is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.
[Wudang South Sacred Path Scenic Area] A national AAAA-level scenic spot. Located on the southwestern foothills of Wudang Mountain, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is known as the "back garden of Wudang." It is 5.7 kilometers from the Golden Summit (Tianzhu Peak) of Wudang Mountain and was once an important sacred path for pilgrims from Sichuan, Shaanxi, northwestern Hubei, and southwestern Hubei to offer incense. Legend has it that when Emperor Li Xian of the Tang Dynasty was demoted by Empress Wu Zetian to Fang County, he would make regular pilgrimages to Wudang every year. Since Lüjiuhe Village is close to Fang County, Emperor Li Xian opened up this new incense-offering route. At the time, Wudang Mountain enjoyed flourishing incense worship, and worshippers from Sichuan, Shaanxi, and southwestern Hubei flocked to the mountain via this path, making it bustling with pilgrims. The South Sacred Path features mountains like blooming flowers, peaks like bamboo shoots, rivers like silk ribbons, picturesque scenery, and folk songs aplenty. With dense primeval forests, crystal-clear streams, and naturally pristine landscapes, it is one of the most original and mysterious serene areas within the 800-li expanse of Wudang. The scenic area stretches 20 kilometers in total and consists of two major sections: Lüjiuhe, known as the No. 1 Chinese Han Folk Song Village, and Heijingu Grand Canyon, which leads directly to the Golden Summit. Bordered by the Jiudaohé River like a jade belt, it links numerous attractions like pearls on a string, including Lüjiuhe Folk Song Village, the former site of the Red Third Army Headquarters and the New Fourth Army site, Two Dragons Playing with a Pearl, Dragon-Slaying Cliff, Nun Rock, Peach Blossom Cave, Orchid Valley, Lion Beach, Ghost Valley Stream, Heavenly Book Valley, Heijingu Grand Canyon, Dragon Pool, Fortune-Turning Platform, and Golden Toad Pilgrimage.
