The Wuliping Revolutionary Site

The Wuliping Revolutionary Site is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit and a classic red tourism destination.

The Wuliping Revolutionary Site is located in Wuliping, 60 kilometers east of Hefeng County. It currently includes 23 various cultural relics such as the former headquarters of the Xiang-E’bian Independent Regiment, the former headquarters of the Wuhe Guerrilla Detachment, the former site of the Zijing Township Soviet Government, the former site of the Xiang-E’bian United County Government, the former site of the Communist Youth League Xiang-E’bian Special Committee, the former site of the Supply and Marketing Cooperative of the Xiang-E’bian United County Government, the former site of the Xiang-E’bian Special Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, and the Wuliping Battle Site, with a total floor area of 2,300 square meters.

The former headquarters of the Xiang-E’bian Independent Regiment is located on the north side of the western section of Wuliping Street, adjacent to the former site of the Red Army garrison to the east. It is a wooden, board-covered, tiled house with a hanging hip roof and a through-tenon structure, measuring 16.43 meters in width and 9.45 meters in depth.

The former Red Army garrison site. From 1929 to 1930, the Fourth Red Army was stationed in Wuliping on multiple occasions, with officers and soldiers dispersed among houses on Wuliping Street and nearby civilian residences. Seven garrison sites remain today.

The former negotiation site for the enlistment of Sichuan troops is located on the north side of the western section of Wuliping Street, adjacent to the former site of the Red Army garrison to the east. It is a wooden, board-covered, tiled house with a hanging hip roof and a through-tenon structure, measuring 10.15 meters in width and 6 meters in depth.

The former site of the Red prison is located at the northern end of the middle section of Wuliping Street, flanked by the former Red Army garrison sites. It is a wooden, board-covered, tiled house with a hanging hip roof and a through-tenon structure, measuring 12.38 meters in width and 7.71 meters in depth.

The former headquarters of the Wuhe Guerrilla Detachment is located on the north side of the eastern section of Wuliping Street, flanked by the former Red Army garrison sites. It is a two-story wooden, board-covered, tiled house with a hanging hip roof and a through-tenon structure, measuring 6.83 meters in width and 7.75 meters in depth.

The former site of the Ninth District Women’s Association is located on the north side of the eastern section of Wuliping Street, adjacent to the former site of the auditorium of the Xiang-E’bian United County Government to the east. It is a wooden, board-covered, tiled house with a hanging hip roof and a through-tenon structure, measuring 6.5 meters in width and 7.4 meters in depth.

The former site of the auditorium of the Xiang-E’bian United County Government is located in the middle section of Wuliping Street. In April 1931, the Xiang-E’bian United County Government was established here. The site is a four-courtyard-style wooden, through-tenon structure with a hanging hip roof and tiled roof, measuring 13.6 meters in width and 19.51 meters in overall depth.

The former site of the Zijing Township Soviet Government is located on the south side of the eastern section of Wuliping Street, adjacent to the former site of the Xiang-E’bian United County Government to the west. In the spring of 1930, the Zijing Township Soviet Government was established here. It is a wooden, board-covered, tiled house with a hanging hip roof and a through-tenon structure, measuring 10.39 meters in width and 6.64 meters in depth.

The former site of the Xiang-E’bian United County Government is located on the south side of the middle section of Wuliping Street. In April 1931, three rooms of the original site remain, being a wooden, board-covered, tiled house with a hanging hip roof and a through-tenon structure, measuring 26 meters in width and 12 meters in depth.

The former related site of the Communist Youth League Xiang-E’bian Special Committee is located on the south side of the middle section of Wuliping Street, adjacent to the former site of the Xiang-E’bian United County Government of the Chinese Soviet to the east. The site is a two-courtyard-style wooden, hanging hip roof, through-tenon structure with a tiled roof, facing south, measuring 10.8 meters in width and 17.95 meters in depth.

The former site of the Supply and Marketing Cooperative of the Xiang-E’bian United County Government is located on the south side of the middle section of Wuliping Street. In 1931, the Supply and Marketing Cooperative of the Xiang-E’bian United County Government was established here. It is a tiled house with a hanging hip roof and a through-tenon structure, measuring 12.3 meters in width and 11.4 meters in depth.

The former site of the Red Army uniform factory is located on the south side of the western end of the old street. It is a wooden, board-covered, tiled house with a hanging hip roof and a through-tenon structure, measuring 9.4 meters in width and 5.8 meters in depth.

The former site of the Xiang-E’bian Military and Political Cadre Training Class is located 100 meters northeast of Wuliping Street. It is a wooden, board-covered, tiled house with a hanging hip roof and a through-tenon structure, measuring 9.85 meters in width and 8.5 meters in depth.

The former site of the Xiang-E’bian Party and Government Cadre Training Class is located 300 meters northeast of Wuliping Street. In May 1931, the Xiang-E’bian Special Committee of the Chinese Communist Party held a cadre training class here. Two rooms of the original site remain, covering an area of 84 square meters, with a hanging hip roof and wooden structure.

The former site of the Xiang-E’bian Special Committee of the Chinese Communist Party is located about 500 meters northwest of Wuliping Street. On May 2, 1931, the Xiang-E’bian Sub-Committee of the Chinese Communist Party set up the Xiang-E’bian Special Committee here. It is a three-story stilt-style building with an area of 382 square meters, featuring a hanging hip roof and wooden structure.

The Wuliping Battle Site is located southeast of Wuliping Street. The site is a valley between two mountains.

The former site of the Soviet Primary School is located on the north side of the middle section of Wuliping Street, adjacent to the former site of the auditorium of the Xiang-E’bian United County Government of the Chinese Soviet to the northeast, covering an area of 8,100 square meters.

The Wuliping Revolutionary Site is a representative relic of the Xiang-E’bian Soviet Area and serves as physical evidence for studying the formation process of the Second Front Army, one of the three main forces of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army.

In 2006, it was announced by the State Council as part of the sixth batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.
