Fanwan Lake Tourist Scenic Area is a national wetland park.

Fanwan Lake Tourist Scenic Area is located in the central part of Qianjiang City, within the Houhu Management District. It is a tourist scenic area featuring water town garden characteristics, integrating travel, vacation, leisure, fishing, and sightseeing.

Fanwan Lake Tourist Scenic Area covers an area of over 20,000 mu. Among its most distinctive features is the natural lake spanning more than 10,000 mu (named Fanwan Lake). In the center of the lake lies “Garden in the Lake,” which features attractions such as the Summer Water Fort, Lotus Island, Hundred Birds Islet, Officials’ Reception Hall, Generals’ Hall, Fanwan Hall, and a resort village. Surrounded by water on all sides, the Garden in the Lake is shaded by lush trees, with water and sky blending into one. Coupled with the beautiful and touching legend of Lady Jiang, it offers a refreshing and imaginative experience. There are also the renowned “Six Delicacies” of the water town cuisine, leaving a memorable aftertaste.

The waters of Fanwan Lake Tourist Scenic Area are clear, transparent, and unpolluted, making it an environmentally friendly green water source. The area is home to a rich variety of wildlife, providing visitors with abundant sights. Amid the shade of willows, you can listen to the gentle chirping of waterfowl, and on the calm waves of the lake, you can watch wildflowers bloom quietly. Especially during the season when lotuses are in full bloom, boating to pick lotus flowers with their fragrance wafting through the air offers a unique charm reminiscent of the water towns and marshlands of the south.

Fanwan Lake Tourist Scenic Area features a floating bird-watching pavilion, with couplets hanging from its pillars that read: “A hundred birds chirp and play, a hundred guests admire the view and stay.” A few years ago, due to intensified use of agricultural and fishery resources and severe poaching and overfishing, the lake area and the number of biological species declined sharply. To bring the birds “home,” the Houhu Farm and the Fanwan Lake Tourism Management Office have focused on protecting the wetland ecosystem, which consists of aquatic and terrestrial organisms and the ecological environment, as well as the biodiversity of species.
