The Red Army Dyke is a cultural heritage site protected by Hubei Province and a classic red tourism attraction.

Red Army Dyke

Located in Gongjia Village, Zhouji Subdistrict Office, Qianjiang City. In June 1931, after the Tianguan River burst its banks, He Long led two regiments of the Red Ninth Army and organized over 20,000 workers from four counties to construct a 19-kilometer-long dyke in just over a month, successfully blocking the floodwaters. The local people named it the “Red Army Dyke.” After 1949, the People's Government of Qianjiang County erected a monument at the dyke, inscribed with a quote from He Long. The existing Red Army Dyke stands 6.5–7.5 meters high, with a crest width of 4.5–8 meters and a base width of 45–50 meters, and it still serves a flood prevention function today. It stands as a testament to the deep bond between the Red Army and the local people, and holds significant historical value. (Fifth Batch)
