Qianjiang City Museum is designated as a patriotic education base and a national defense education base.

Qianjiang City Museum is a local historical comprehensive museum, situated at No. 27 Zhanghua South Road, Qianjiang City—a pearl of the beautiful Jianghan Plain. Established in 1984, it occupies an area of 7,000 m² with a construction area of 4,300 m². As one of the national third-grade museums, it is an important institution in Qianjiang City for cultural relic collection, research, and exhibition. The museum’s exhibition building is a contemporary replica of classical architecture, dignified and majestic. It houses a collection of 15,460 sets of cultural relics, including 192 sets of precious relics, showcasing thousands of years of cultural heritage from the Jianghan Plain.

The museum’s exhibition building has three floors and hosts permanent exhibitions such as the “Special Exhibition on Longwan Site,” “Treasured Calligraphy and Paintings,” “Fine Cultural Relics of the Ming and Qing Dynasties,” and “Exhibition on Qianjiang’s Modern History.” These exhibitions vividly present Qianjiang’s profound history, glorious revolutionary struggle, and the distinctive folk culture of the water town, attracting approximately 100,000 visitors annually.

In 1998, it was awarded the title of “Provincial Patriotic Education Base” by Hubei Province;

In 2002, it was designated as a “Provincial National Defense Education Base” by Hubei Province;

In 2002, Qianjiang City Museum was honored as a “National Advanced Collective in the Cultural Relics System” by the Ministry of Personnel and the State Administration of Cultural Heritage;

In 2003, Qianjiang City was rated as a “National Advanced County in Cultural Relics” by the Ministry of Personnel and the State Administration of Cultural Heritage;

In 2013, Qianjiang City Museum was graded as a third-grade museum by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage.
