Dengwan Site

The Dengwan Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Zhengzhou City.

The Dengwan Site is located on a high terrace west of Dengwan Village, Xincun Town, on the eastern bank of the Qin River. The site has an irregular layout, bordered by deep ditches on the north, west, and south sides. It stretches approximately 320 meters from north to south and about 195 meters from east to west, covering an area of around 20,000 square meters. The cultural layer is about 0.5 meters thick, with the surface currently used as farmland. The site is relatively well-preserved. Cultural layers have been identified in the exposed cliffs of the site, though they are not particularly abundant. Artifacts collected on-site include small fragments of fine red clay pottery, conical feet, and other items. These artifacts were fired at relatively low temperatures, appearing orange-yellow in color. A small number of sand-tempered pottery fragments were also found, with identifiable shapes including three-legged bowls and jars.

This site is located near the Peiligang Site and holds certain value for the study of the distribution and cultural characteristics of Peiligang Culture settlements.
