Dafanzhuang Site

The Dafanzhuang Site is a cultural relic protection unit of Zhengzhou City.

The site is located on a highland, higher in the north and lower in the south, adjacent to a dry gully to the south, and surrounded by jujube orchards to the east, west, and north. It lies 3 kilometers west of Huayang Ancient City and 800 meters east of Xiaofanzhuang Reservoir. The site stretches approximately 310 meters from north to south and 106 meters from east to west, covering an area of about 35,000 square meters, with a cultural layer accumulation thickness of 1.2 to 2 meters. The site is relatively well-preserved, with the surface currently used as farmland.

A large number of large ash pits are distributed in the northern part of the site. The cultural layer is 1.2 to 2 meters thick and contains abundant pottery fragments. Pottery shards from the Longshan period that can be identified include vessels such as li tripods, jars, and ding tripods, with decorative patterns mainly consisting of cord marks, basketry patterns, and checkerboard patterns. Stone axe fragments have also been discovered. Pottery shards from the Shang Dynasty period that can be identified include jars and ding tripods, predominantly featuring cord marks. Pottery shards from the Spring and Autumn period that can be identified include jars, basins, and li tripods, mainly decorated with cord marks. Pottery shards from the Warring States period that can be identified include cauldrons, basins, and dou stem-cups, primarily decorated with cord marks.

Dafanzhuang Village: Dafanzhuang is located in the northeastern part of the town government's jurisdiction, bordering Changjiazhuang to the north, Mengzhuang Town to the east, Zhangxinzhuang to the west, and Donglijiazhuang to the south. It consists of two natural villages, Dafanzhuang and Daluhe, with seven villager groups, totaling 288 households and a population of 1,100. Currently, 280 households and 1,060 people in the village participate in the new cooperative medical system. There are 2 households receiving the Five Guarantees support and 28 households receiving subsistence allowances. A total of 570 people participate in the pension insurance, with 167 already enjoying elderly living subsidies.
