Hongfu Site

The Hongfu Site is a cultural heritage site protected by Zhengzhou City.

The Hongfu Site is a remnant of the Yangshao Culture. It is located 200 meters south of Hongfu Village in Mengzhuang Town, approximately 23 kilometers northeast of Xinzheng City. Discovered in 1985, the site covers an area of about 2 hectares, slightly higher in the southwest and gradually sloping down toward the northeast. The cultural layer is 1 to 2 meters thick. The surface contains a large number of fired earth blocks, straw-mixed mud pieces, and pottery shards. Among the pottery shards, identifiable vessel shapes include duck-billed tripod feet, jars, basins, and bowls, as well as some painted pottery with decorative patterns. Stone tools such as axes, knives, and spades have also been found, along with a few broken stone grinding rods. Other items include clam shells, animal bones, and deer antlers. This site also contains a small amount of Peiligang Culture remnants. According to local residents, tombs and stone grinding rods were discovered during land leveling, suggesting that the site may also have elements of Peiligang Culture.
