Central China Yu West Anti-Japanese Memorial Park

The Central China Yu West Anti-Japanese Memorial Park is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Construction of the Central China Yu West Anti-Japanese Memorial Park began in October 2013, covering an area of 2.5 square kilometers. Centered around the former workplace of Pi Dingjun, it includes a memorial square, a tourist service center, the headquarters area of the Eighth Route Army Yu West Anti-Japanese Vanguard Detachment, the Mibei Anti-Japanese Democratic Government area, the Mibei Anti-Japanese Independent Regiment area, a field hospital area, an expansion training field area, an exhibition area on the revolutionary history of Xinmi City, and an exhibition area on the revolutionary struggle history of Yu West.

Starting in 2011, Henan Fuxi Mountain Tourism Development Co., Ltd. planned to develop Tianzhongwan Village into a high-mountain ecological tourism demonstration zone and a red tourism destination. The first deep well in Tianzhongwan Village was drilled, fundamentally improving the production and domestic water supply for mountain residents. Non-residential natural villages were relocated as a whole, and a 23,000㎡ Tianzhongwan Community was built near the Jian’gong Road, equipped with complete facilities such as water, electricity, and cultural entertainment, offering convenient transportation. Tianzhongwan Community has become a benchmark for mountain residents striving toward prosperity and civilization.

The memorial park displays military uniforms once worn by Red Army soldiers, military backpacks, and helmets worn by Japanese soldiers—over 1,200 such historical artifacts preserved from the past, which were very difficult to collect. Through physical exhibits, information panels, guided tours, and visitor experiences, the park comprehensively, truthfully, objectively, and fairly recreates the history of how the people of Central China persevered in the War of Resistance and fought bravely. Pi Dingjun was born in Lu’an County, Jinzhai, Anhui—a place also known as China’s famous County of Generals. At the site where Pi Dingjun once worked and lived, visitors can gain an authentic understanding of his contributions as an outstanding general and military strategist of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army to China’s revolution.
