Chairman Mao's Memorial Pavilion for Inspecting the Yellow River

Chairman Mao's Memorial Pavilion for Inspecting the Yellow River is located at the ferry crossing on the south bank of the Yellow River in Dongbatou Village, Dongbatou Township, Lankao County. The pavilion is square-shaped, standing 9 meters tall with sides measuring 10.18 meters. It has 8 steps, is surrounded by railings that are 3.17 meters long and 4.27 meters wide, and features 16 pillars with a double-eave, canopy-style roof. The roof is inlaid with yellow glazed tiles. The words “Chairman Mao's Memorial Pavilion for Inspecting the Yellow River” are inscribed in white marble on the central eastern and western sides of the pavilion. In the center of the pavilion stands a bluestone stele, the front of which faces the great bend of the Yellow River. The front of the stele is engraved with Chairman Mao’s calligraphy reading “We must do a good job with the Yellow River,” while the back details his two inspection visits to Lankao in October 30, 1952 and August 7, 1958.
