Duan Gang Ruins

The Duan Gang Ruins are a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Period: Neolithic Age to Zhou Dynasty

Located on the sand dunes north of Duan Gang Village and south of Huang Gang Gully, 6 kilometers southwest of Qixian County, Henan Province. Excavated artifacts include ancient axes, stone chisels, bone daggers, and fragments of gray, reddish-brown, earthenware, and sandy-textured urns, pots, jars, and plates featuring corded, striped, and appliqué patterns, as well as incomplete pottery vessels, short teat-like li tripod legs, deer antlers, and animal bones, all belonging to the Longshan Culture. In 1984, it was designated as a county-level cultural relics protection unit. In 1989, the site was re-excavated, yielding a large number of pottery artifacts from the Longshan, Erlitou, Shang, and Zhou periods.

In May 2013, it was approved and announced by the State Council as part of the seventh batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.

Gaoyang Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Qixian County. Established as Gaoyang Commune in 1958, restructured as a township in 1984, and upgraded to a town in 1990. It is located in the southwestern part of the county, 11 kilometers from the county seat. Covering an area of 74.2 square kilometers with a population of 60,000, it administers 29 village committees: Gaoyang, Niujiaogang, Wanglou, Chenzhuang, Tuancheng, Dun Tun, Yangtun, Wugang, Huanggang, Cao Li Wang, Wangqiao, Shuiniuli, Jincun, Donghuangzhuang, Cai Gu, Maozhai, Hezhuang, Fucun, Qinglongshikou, Sunzhai, Caiying, Changzhai, Zhangwa, Yuwa, Dongwanggu, Wanggují, Jubagang, and Sushu.
