Zhaojiayao Tomb Cluster

The Zhaojiayao Tomb Cluster is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Hebei Province.

The Zhaojiayao Tomb Cluster is located 300 meters west of Zhaojiayao Village, Zuowei Town, Huai’an County, on the farmland of the eastern bank of the Hongtang River. The cluster stretches approximately 2,000 meters from north to south and about 600 meters from east to west, covering a total area of 1,200,000 square meters.

Originally, there were thirty-eight burial mounds, of which twenty-nine remain. These mounds are all round in shape, standing between 3 and 10 meters in height, with diameters ranging from 4 to 30 meters. Based on the shape of the mounds and excavation findings of similar tombs in the Yanghe River basin, the cluster is believed to date back to the Han Dynasty.

In July 1982, it was designated as a provincial-level cultural heritage site by the People’s Government of Hebei Province.

Zhaojiayao Village: Located in the northeastern part of Zuowei Town, Zhaojiayao Village is 5 kilometers away from the town government. The village has a registered population of 402 households, totaling 1,391 people, with 814 permanent residents currently. The village covers an area of 3,210 mu, including 210 mu for the village itself and 3,000 mu of arable land.
