Shuigoukou Site

The Shuigoukou Site is a cultural relic protection unit of Hebei Province.

The Shuigoukou Site is located on the Bacizhaogou, about 50 meters south of Shuigoukou Village, Huaiancheng Town, Huai’an County. It stretches approximately 200 meters from north to south and 300 meters from east to west, covering an area of 60,000 square meters.

The site sits on a dirt mound, now terraced fields, where pottery shards are visible on the surface. The pottery mainly consists of gray clay pottery with a higher proportion of clay-bodied ware, followed by sand-tempered gray pottery. The surfaces of the pottery are mostly plain, followed by corded patterns and combed patterns. The pottery was mainly handmade, with identifiable shapes including jars, li tripods, bowls, dou stems, and urns. Stone tools found include stone grinding plates, stone axes, stone shovels, stone knives, and stone chisels—most were polished, while a few were roughly made and then slightly polished.

Based on collected samples, the site contains artifacts from both the Neolithic Age and the Warring States Period.

Shuigoukou Village: Shuigoukou Village is located south of Huaiancheng Town, about 5 kilometers from the township government.
