The Songjiafang Site

The Songjiafang Site, located in the northwest of Songjiafang Natural Village, Jingjiawan Village, Dukoubao Township, Huai’an County, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province, is a Neolithic Age (10,000–2,000 BCE) cultural site discovered along the upper reaches of the Yanghe River.

The Songjiafang Site is situated on a terrace on the southern bank of the Yanghe River, sloping from west to east, and measures roughly 150 meters in length from north to south and 270 meters in width from east to west. Beneath 70 centimeters of surface soil, a cultural layer 30 to 50 centimeters thick can be seen, appearing light gray in color and containing pottery fragments and skeletal remains. Scattered across the surface are broken pieces of pottery.

On February 14, 2018, the Songjiafang Site was designated as part of the sixth batch of Provincial-Level Cultural Relics Protection Units by the People’s Government of Hebei Province.
