Water Curtain Cave:

Located about 5 kilometers west of Tongbai County in Henan Province. Surrounded by mountains and lush pines and cypresses, it is one of the famous scenic spots of Tongbai Mountain. The cave is situated about 20 meters above the ground. Inside, there is a clay sculpture of a macaque, from which spring water flows. The cave entrance is covered by a waterfall cascading down from the mountaintop, resembling a beaded curtain hanging down. Stepping inside the cave, even during the peak heat of summer, a refreshing coolness greets you, invigorating the senses. Since ancient times, it has been a popular destination for travelers and an ideal retreat for escaping the heat. Numerous poems and inscriptions by literati and visitors throughout the dynasties praise the cave’s uniqueness and serene beauty. One such seven-character quatrain reads: “Halfway down the mountain hangs a crystal curtain, / As if the Milky Way has tumbled from the ninth heaven; / Through the ages, none could roll it up, / Only a crescent moon hangs empty in the blue sky.”
