Ancient Cultural Site of Renzu Temple

The Ancient Cultural Site of Renzu Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.

An ancient cultural site from the early Shang and Zhou dynasties, dating back approximately 4,000 years, formed through the long-term habitation and daily life of the Shang and Zhou ancestors. To the east, a production road lies at the foot of the mound; to the south and west, it borders the Dagang area; the northwest corner is 500 meters from the Hong River; the southeast is 1 kilometer from Houying, the north 1 kilometer from Caoying, and the northeast 1 kilometer from Wangying. The site is roughly circular, measuring 90 meters in both east-west and north-south dimensions, with a height of 3 meters, covering an area of 8,100 square meters. The cultural layer is relatively thin, with pottery shards scattered across the surface. The site is littered with red-fired earth, clam shells, mussels, teeth, animal bones, broken pottery pieces, including gray pottery tripod legs, li tripod legs, and flat-bottomed jar parts. Gray pottery is more common than red, and the decorative patterns mainly consist of cord marks, added coil designs, and finger-print impressions.

Based on the existing pottery shards and broken artifacts, it is preliminarily classified as an early Shang and Zhou cultural site.

The Ancient Cultural Site of Renzu Temple is located 200 meters in front of Renzu Temple in Zengzhai Village Committee, Licheng Township, about 4 kilometers north of Xincai County. It is 5 kilometers from National Highway 106, 2 kilometers from Minglin Road, 6 kilometers from downtown Zhumadian City, over 130 kilometers from the Shiwangshan Scenic Area, over 120 kilometers from the Boshan Lake Scenic Area, and over 160 kilometers from the Tongshan Scenic Area, with direct access via county and township roads.
