Ancient Cultural Site of Liangmatai

The Ancient Cultural Site of Liangmatai is a cultural relic protection unit of Henan Province.

An early Shang Dynasty ancient cultural site, the site is rectangular in shape from east to west and south to north. It is 335 meters long from east to west, 261 meters wide, and 1–4 meters high, covering an area of 72,360 square meters. The terrain slopes from south to north, forming a gentle incline, with relatively thin cultural layers mostly composed of yellow-baked earth, and more red-fired earth in the northwest.

Scattered on the surface are column-shaped tripod legs, sand-tempered li tripod legs, gray pottery jar rims, willow-leaf-shaped stone arrowheads, zeng vessel bottoms, pottery urn rims, red pottery fragments, etc. Common decorative patterns include basketry patterns, added coil patterns, fingerprints, etc. Gray pottery is more common than red, and the pottery walls are relatively thick. It was identified as a Shang and Zhou cultural site during the 1985 cultural relics survey.

Located 500 meters northwest of Qiankangdian Village, Wu’gang Village Committee, Fogesi Town, 28 kilometers southwest of Xincai County. It is just 1 kilometer from the Minglin Road, 95 kilometers from Zhumadian City, over 120 kilometers from the Chaya Mountain Scenic Area, over 110 kilometers from the Boshan Lake Scenic Area, and over 150 kilometers from the Tongshan Scenic Area.
